When I worked with MacOS, I used iTerm2, but now on Linux I am using Guake as my default terminal.

Not sure if there are "normal" terminals that have Quake modes. It's convenient to just press one button to open / close it. There's guake for Gnome, yakuake for KDE, and probably others. If you use the terminal a fair bit, look into quake-style, drop-down terminals. It's probably not what you saw, but you can do stuff like that with ConEmu. I'll still hold on to ConEmu as my Win terminal. After asking some folks on my team, they suggested iTerm2 and I must admit it's equally fantastic.

Tips for developers switching from Windows to Mac ConEmu was my go-to terminal on Windows and so I was pretty bummed out when I realised that it wasn't supported on Mac.By clicking on the little Page symbol on the right-hand side or by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+T you can create a new tab. Now if you press the F12 button you will get a drop-down terminal window, which is very convenient. I found the way and I want to share it with you ?. Once back up you should recognize Guake starting along with your operating system. After using Mac I wanted to see the same future on iTerm2. Likewise, if you run Git Bash (again, the MinTTY version) in ConEmu, Tmux works just fine in it, as well.Īs a Windows user, I generally use Conemu Console for my console and it has a sweet future in which you can see the current git branch on the terminal. You should see the usual Tmux status bar and you'll be able to use the normal Tmux functions and keyboard shortcuts. Opening Guake in Kali Linux by pressing F12īy default, until you launch Guake, the F12 key does not work and nothing happens when you press it.In the new Git Bash instance, launch a new Tmux session normally by running tmux. Or by attaching the program to Favorites: In Kali Linux, you can run Guake from the menu
